Take a tour of the amazing glacial lakes, Fiordland and waterways of the central to lower South Island. Visit charming seaside and inland towns and communities en route. See Oamaru, renowned for its whitestone and some of New Zealand’s finest Victorian architecture. Explore the Otago Peninsula, home to some of the rarest wildlife in the world, see the City of Dunedin, the 'Edinburgh of the South' and visit New Zealand’s only castle.

Venture across the South Island to Fiordland in the south-west. Cruise the magnificent Milford Sound. Discover the many attractions of picturesque Queenstown, a fabulous alpine resort nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu. Ride high on the Skyline gondola for panoramic views of the region.

Travel through the towering cliffs of the Kawarau Gorge and pass turquoise Lake Tekapo before you cross the Canterbury Plains and complete your journey in Christchurch.

Day 1Christchurch - Dunedin
Travel across the Canterbury Plains through seaside Timaru, white stone Oamaru and along the coast line to Palmerston. Cross Mt Cargill to Dunedin, the 'Edinburgh of the South'. Arrive in early afternoon with time for optional sightseeing of the wildlife of the Otago Peninsula. Stay 1 night in Dunedin.
Day 2Dunedin - Te Anau
This morning is free for optional tours. Continue across the rolling hill country of South Otago and Southland. After the farming community of Gore, head across the Waimea Plains towards Fiordland. Stay 1 night in Te Anau.
Day 3Te Anau - Milford Sound - Queenstown
Pass through pristine beech forests and the Homer Tunnel to view the majesty of Mitre Peak and Bowen Falls while enjoying lunch aboard a cruise on Milford Sound. Depart of Milford Sound back to Te Anau, then turn north, following the dramatic southern shores of Lake Wakatipu to reach Queenstown. Stay 2 nights in Queenstown.
Day 4Queenstown
Today is free for you to enjoy this fabulous alpine resort. We have included the Skyline gondola in your tour. There are dozens of optional activities as well, from thrilling jet boat rides to leisurely lake cruises, 4WD safaris, bungy jumping.
Day 5Queenstown - Christchurch
Travel through the rocky Kawarau Gorge with its historic gold mines, passing by spectacular scenery into Tekapo. Continue north through the Canterbury Plains arriving into Christchurch late afternoon.
